Moving in is easy. Caliu imports notes on every platform, and tags come along for the ride.
Supported formats
- Markdown files (
.md): one note per file - ZIP archive (
.zip): a folder of Markdown files - Google Keep (
.zip): export a Google Takeout ZIP and upload that archive directly - Bear backup (
.bear2bk): Bear's export format - Notion export (
.json): Notion's JSON export
You can select several files at once. Each file can bring in up to 500 notes; anything beyond that is skipped and reported.
How to import
- In the web app: open your user menu in the sidebar and choose Import notes, then drop files or click to browse.
- In the iPhone and iPad app and the Mac app: go to Settings, choose Import Notes, and select your files.
What happens to your notes
Hashtags in your notes are recreated as Caliu tags, including nested ones like #work/project. Wiki-style links between imported notes are relinked so they keep pointing at each other, and notes that already exist are skipped rather than duplicated. After the import, a sync brings everything to all your devices.
