Tags can nest. Add a / inside a tag to create a hierarchy:
#work/project
#work/meetings
#books/fiction/scifi
Each / adds a level, and you can nest as deep as you need. Caliu creates the whole chain for you: typing #work/project in a note creates both #work and #work/project if they do not exist yet.
In the sidebar
Nested tags render as a tree. #work/project and #work/meetings appear indented under #work, and you can expand or collapse a parent to keep the sidebar tidy.
Parents include their children
A note tagged #work/project also counts as a #work note. Clicking the parent tag shows everything underneath it, so you can zoom out to the whole area or zoom in to one project.
A few details
- The same child name can live under different parents:
#work/ideasand#home/ideasare separate tags. - Renaming a parent updates the whole family. See the article on managing tags.
- Nesting is optional. Flat tags like
#ideasare perfectly fine, and you can mix both styles freely.
